CCCX #3 Manzanita Park
Tried hard at the CCCX #3. Felt a little tired in the morning, but really liked the course I set up! I think this was the best course I have set up so far at this park. Tried going with Barry Wicks early, but was way in over my head. Then I couldn't find a rhythm and just went backwards. Turns out at the end of the race my rear wheel was out and rubbing hard into my breaks for the whole race I think!!!!!!!! That's racing! At least the course was good! I felt good going into the race and was ready to try to fight hard for a top 10 finish, but my wheel slowed me down for sure, and that's the way the wheel rolls some times............. Yet I did feel ready for this race and felt I was ready to have at it!
Bakersfield Cyclocross
The Bakersfield cyclocross races were really good. There were 2 days of racing and the course was used twice, run opposite direction on day two. I like this format and I liked the course too. There was a good run up, and some technical sections, and grass sections, and some fast sections. The racing was very competitive. Day one I really suffered and could not get going. I wanted to quit, but held on, and then the leader had a flat tire.........Then the next leader had a flat tire! I suddenly found myself in a battle for 2nd place. This was a shock because I really felt bad, but I fought hard and held on, and I took the sprint for 2nd on the day. The guy who I beat was not happy and blamed me for riding his wheel, but I was just hanging on and did my best, but he shouldn't have questioned me because all that did was fire me up! The 2nd day I had a feeling I would feel better and I was right. I started good but took a slight fall and lost the lead and then I was in a group of chasers. This time I did some flyers to break up the chase group as I was feeling a little more frisky. Maybe I should have tried working with the guys to chase the lead dude, but he was gone and the others are pretty strong, so I was just racing for my best possible finish. It came down to me and the same guy from day 1 fighting it out for 2nd place again. I had enough to get a gap in the final portion of the event and take 2nd again, this time uncontested at the line. I was happy with two 2nd place finishes on the weekend, especially on day one where I felt horrible, but it would have been nice to take a win! That's racing and this weekend showed me you never know what will happen..........
Fresno Short Track Win
I have won the first 2 short track races in Fresno. The first one took a last lap move for the win after a huge chase for 6 laps! I caught the leader with 1/2 lap to go and somehow snuck by with two turns left in the race! You can see here from the photos I was happy! The second short track race I was in the lead from start to finish, but these races really hurt and you have to be very careful because the races are short and very fast. I like short track racing!

Cyclocross time of year!
Cyclocross has so much action! So much to the racing, the suffering, the obstacles, the challenging courses! It is for sure the most athletic and most difficult style of racing on a bike! I like Mtn Biking, and Road Racing, and Long Distance Endurance Racing, and DH and Dual Slalom, but Cyclocross is so intense, it is for sure one of my favorites, along with all the other types of cycling I listed. I think it is the best one ever there........I am using some stuff from all the past races and adding some new editions! Should be very good racing!
