Must Keep Trying!
I might be sore, or have a bad knee, or feel tired, it does not matter. I must keep trying! If things do not go my way, I must keep trying, and I will find something good out there, somewhere!
My weeks totals were ok for Jan 15-21, 2007. I did 200+ miles in 15 hours, but after a 5 hour ride on Saturday I developed a little soreness in my knee. I then took rest on Sunday and Monday and iced it many times. My legs were really sore after a hard 5 hour ride Saturday, so I think rest was good.
I really need to focus on my diet and stay lean and not eat too much. Also I must work on rest, and staying relaxed when I am off the bike.
This weekend is the final 3 races of the Fresno race series. I will really try my best and suffer as hard as possible!

1st WIN OF 2007
It was the Fresno LOU Night Race! It was super cold! Broke a spoke with 2 laps to go, did a on the fly bike change! The sprinted up the steep hill with about 30 seconds left in the race and bombed the DH and that was enough of a gap for the win! I was stoked and JP Sickler handed me 120$ at the podium for the win! My fingers were so frozen! I really liked the course and it was worth the pain ad suffering in the freezing cold. Then I lagged at the start on day 2 of racing and never felt good in Watsonville. I got bogged down by 2 riders who I should have been ahead of, and that was that! Either I race full blown and charging the front, or I take a chance to have issues and not do well.
The weeks totals were about 200 miles in 15 hours. It was a good training week and I need to stay consistent with my riding output. But I was really sore after 2 days of back to back racing, so I needed a little rest during next week.
That was win # 282 for my own personal record.

Weeks Totals- and Races to Come........
For the week of Jan 7, I put in 155 miles, with about 11 hours of saddle time. I was pretty tapped from setting up the CCCX Series Final Cross course, but it was well worth it as the course was fun to ride! Now I have the NIGHT race in Fresno this Sat. then the final weekend of racing in Fresno Jan 27-28. should be really fun, and I have to remember to stay positive!

CCCX Cross Series 2006 Final
Sunday, Jan 7, was the final race of the 2006 CCCX Cross Series and the course was really good. The rain in the week made the dirt perfect and the route was just right for suffering and fun. I ended up 4th in the A series, however I never really had a good race in this series. It was super fun to compete in, and I was very happy with all of my course designs for the year. I think it was the best Cross courses I have designed in one season. Here is some photos of the last race, it was a picture perfect day for cycling!

2006 Riding Totals-
Here are my totals for 2006:
8814 Miles
638.75 Hours
34 Race Wins
Career total is now 281
Most miles in a day- 100, 102 & 6.5 hours riding Road bike
90 & 8 hours riding Mtn bike
Most in one week- 318- 46 hours
Most in one month- 893- 63 hours
Average miles per hour rode- 13.79
Average month- 734.5
Average week- 169.5
Average day- 24.14
Summary- I was happy with the win total! But I also missed out on a few wins and need to ride better! I was happy to get my road upgrade! But it will be muchmore difficult in the next road group. I want to do more miles in the year and more miles per month in 2007! But I did want to do more quality then quantity in 2006. My goals for 2007 are to win races, and compete in a lot of races. I want to ride over 10,000 miles, have a few weeks over 400 miles, do 10 days where I at least ride a century(100 miles), have a few 1000 mile months, and see Conie. I will also race cyclocross with drop bars for 2007 and try a take part in the Devil Mtn Double.
Hopefully I can meet my goals, and I will start to use this blog to keep current info on my training numbers per week and my racing activities.
Final Race CCCX DH Series 2006
The 2006 CCCX DH Series was really some good racing! The final course of the series was really good as it rained leading up to the race and the dirt was perfect!!!!! I liked the courses during all of the races and even though I had a mechanical in the Expert race I still ended up winning the series for Expert and Hardtail! I tallied 11 wins for the series and almost was perfect in wins except for my cable hanger completely ripping off during the final Expert run. I hope to promote more DH races this upcoming season and to keep racing the DH races and do my best.
CCCX #4
This race was held at Ft ord and it was raining for 2 days leading up to the race, and it also rained hard on the morning of the race! This led to some serious flooding in some sections of the course and some really fun Cyclocross racing! The course was really good and it was a true test for everyone! I really felt I was ready to go, but I basically chopped a section of my finger off while setting up the course, and my friends mom past away, and all of this stress just brought me down a few notches. I felt really bad for my friend losing his mom. And the rain was really bad which also stressed me out. And my finger was seriously messed up, it was as bad a injury I have ever had setting up a course. Besides all that I really felt ready to go! I thought I could have a good race, before all these issues came up. I started super strong, had a little tuff spot, but then found my rhythm. I felt good threw some of the deep mud sections, and really dug deep to hold my position in the race! Then my cranks fell off literally! I broke my crank bolt and both cranks dropped to the ground, all on the far end of the course. I put the cranks in my pockets and tried to run, but it was not good. All this with only 1 & 1/2 laps left! I went from top 3 in the A series to 5th because of this problem. I was basically right where I needed to be before my mechanical, and then the cranks dropped off! Oh well, that's racing........ You can see from the photos the mud was really good in this race and I was trying my best..........
Part III Bakersfield
I raced for the third time at Bakersfield on the weekend, going for the final cash spot in the Elite race. I new it would be hard as I raced two times already on the weekend, but I gave it a go! It hurt early, and late, but I hung in there and found myself in a group of 4 guys going for the last two cash pay out spots. The guys were bitter because I was riding hard and clinging to their wheels, and in the end I took the final spot and some gas money home! It really hurt and you can see from this photo I was suffering and racing myself as hard as I could go!
