It was maybe the biggest group of the year for the Tuesday night practice race at the Ft Ord circuit route I selected. Many fast and fit riders, and the pace was very fast. It got down to about 9 riders on the final lap, and I decided to go on a serious flyer from way out for the win. It was right at the base of the climb into the head-wind and it was really just a move made off a reaction to a slow from the group at the base of the climb. I went solo and somehow, someway, held it to the line for the practice race victory. It hurt so bad, lungs, legs and body, as I went from so far out and kept it going all the way to the line. I was completely blown, but the daring move was one of my greatest success's in the practice races that take place on Tuesday night.
